Cow 'Prison' Application Withdrawn

Another proof that our voice can make a difference: Thanks to a negative reaction from public (14,000 objections were registered by the district council, out of which 6,000 were from PETA supporters), the company Nocton Dairies has withdrawn its application to build an intensive dairy unit in Lincolnshire. The massive factory farm would have meant severe suffering for thousands of cows.

According to Nocton Dairies' plan, the cows on this factory farm would have spent most of their lives in barren sheds. They would have been treated as if they were mere milk machines and deprived of everything that is natural and important to them, including the right to socialise and raise their young.

Cows on these huge dairy factory farms are forced to produce unnaturally high yields of milk, and their bodies are pushed to exhaustion by repeated impregnation. Their calves are torn away from them within hours or days of their birth, and the milk meant for them is sold in supermarkets.

We can choose what dairy produce we buy and where. We can buy the first product we see (or the cheapest one), without thinking, or we can spend one or two minutes more, read the labels and choose a product that is ex. Bio. In the first case, we will probably consume poor quality milk from the suffering cows, and sponsor the massive factory farms. In the second case, we will support the farmers that give their animals a better treatment - the cows have more living space, they are free to move, can socialise, aren't stressed and receive food of better quality. Moreover, Bio products should not be artificially coloured, flavoured etc. Thanks to all this, the products are much healthier and tastier.

The choice is yours... As always.

Promotion!

As part of our efforts to keep in touch with you and to try to contribute to your health and happiness we will be giving away some Yoga mats. Do not worry if you do not live in Czech Republic, we will send it straight to your place, completely for free.

Would you like to know how to get them? Very simple:

  • Priority will be given to those of you who are registered as "Followers" of the blog and that are members of our Facebook group. We will also appreciate if you invite your friends to join the group :D
  • Answer a few questions about our blog and write some ideas regarding what would you like to see posted here (sections or specific topics) and/or ideas for events/projects.
The first four persons that send an email with all correct answers to info@harmonicworld.org will be contacted and their names and location published (unless asked not to do so). Name and location would be like "Roger from Switzerland won one of the mats!".

Why only four winners? Because we only have four from our MYCity event :)

No more animal testing by Lipton!

As a consequence of PETA's campaign, Unilever (maker of PG tips and Lipton teas) has commited to stop all animal testing for the process of tea making with immediate effect.
Eventhough the commitment has an exception ("on the rare occasion in which a foreign government, such as China, or a government agency that doesn't recognise the non-animal methods in use in the EU and US were to require animal tests.") we congratulate everybody who took part on this effort.
Let this be proof that the road to a more civilized and fair world depends on each one of us.
Have a great week and do not forget to send your answers for the Yoga mats!
