There was a lot of frenzy about yesterday, December the 2nd, regarding some announcement by NASA supposedly related to extraterrestrial life. Unfortunately, when the date came the hype proved itself (again) misled.
For some people's (or most?) surprise NASA's announcement didn't have anything to do with extraterrestrial life but actually with different life forms on our own planet: a newly discovered microbe strain called GFAJ-1 that grows on arsenic.
